All You Need To Know About Kolkata Metro’s Orange Line

The Kolkata Metro is the country's first planned and built mass rapid transit system. Work on the Kolkata Metro began in the 1970s after it was proposed in the 1920s during British rule. The first underground stretch, between Bhawanipore and Esplanade, opened in 1984. The East-West Corridor will be operational in 2020, making Kolkata Metro the fifth-longest metro system in India. Kolkata currently has three metro lines that span 38 kilometres.
